The Emporia Arts Center, is proud to host the “ESU Engraving Arts Print Exhibition” in the Trusler Gallery, 815 Commercial St. from January 30 through February 23, 2019.

This Print Exhibition includes works from current students and alumni of the Engraving Arts program at Emporia State University. ESU has the first and only Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in the Engraving Arts in the country.

“It is the goal of this program to expand the definition of traditional fine art engraving. Using hand fabricated objects, you will go beyond traditional engraving applications.

Early courses focus on becoming acclimated with the tools. After beginning courses have been completed, the primary focus is on conceptual development. It is this program’s ambition to explore the conceptual as well as the technical side of engraving.

This program welcomes all disciplines in an effort to hybridize techniques. Installation, ceramics, bones, metal, assemblage, printmaking, sculpture, painting, found objects (and more) are all invited into the lab for exploration. You, the student, are the researcher and innovator, pushing and exploring where engraving will take you. You will be laying down the foundation for future ESU engravers.”
