In celebration of the triumphs, strengths, and individuality of our community, the Emporia Arts Council announces, Stick Together: A Community Sticker Mural.
WHO: Anyone who is a part of Emporia and the Emporia Arts Community – that includes EAC’s 7 county service area(Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, and Wabaunsee Counties), or any person who would like to join our community and this fun project!
WHAT: We are asking that you bring in 1 sticker that you feel represents YOU. What that means, is up to you! Some examples of stickers include:
– A store bought sticker of your favorite movie character
– A sticker you drew on label paper and cut out yourself
– A promotional sticker advertising your favorite restaurant
– A sticker created by your favorite local artist
– A sticker that is blue because that’s your favorite color
– A sticker from a banana at the supermarket because you love bananas
– Any sticker you saw and just thought “..hey, I like that!”
Stickers should be less than 6″x6″ in size and may not include sensitive subject including, but not limited to: swearing, nudity, drugs, and violence. Stickers found to be violating these rules will promptly be covered by sparkly star and puppy stickers.
WHEN: Contributions will be accepted beginning Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 10:00 am. Stick Together is an on-going community project and contributions will be accepted until during EAC business hours the mural is “full”.
WHERE: The mural will be located just past the entrance to the Glaser Art & Gift Store in the atrium of the Emporia Arts Center, 815 Commercial St. If you have any trouble locating the mural feel free to ask the Front Desk.
HOW: Simply stick your sticker anywhere on the mural board! Try not to fully obscure or cover other stickers with your addition, but please understand your sticker may be partially covered as more contributions are brought in. We also ask those who are willing and able to sign their name and age to our Artist Log for the piece, as an additional option you may include a description of your sticker and who created the sticker.
We’re all in this together.
