Shaping the Future Requirements

“Shaping the Future” is open to all children in Emporia and surrounding communities between the ages of 4 and 18. This show is for the young artists in Emporia and surrounding communities to celebrate their art and have it displayed in a professional gallery.

A panel of judges will choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each of the 4 age groups and cash prizes will be awarded during the opening reception. Age groups will be 4 – 7-year-olds, 8 – 10-year-olds, 11 – 13-year-olds, and 14 – 18-year-olds.

Artwork:

1. One submission per artist

2. 2D artwork must be framed and with either a saw-tooth hanger or wire on the back.

3. Artwork must be completed in the last year.

a. Created at home, school, camp, EAC, or anywhere else is welcomed.

4. Fill out entry form – online at emporiaksarts.org under the gallery tab or come down to the Arts Center to fill out a form.

5. No fee! This is free for every kid.

Artwork can be dropped off at the Emporia Arts Center from May 31st – June 28th during business hours.

“Shaping the Future: A Young Artists’ Exhibition” will be on display in the Trusler Gallery from July 11th – 26th, Artist Reception – July 11th from 5:00-6:00pm with awards at 5:15pm.

Age Category

Please review the information below before submitting your entry form!

• EAC will accept artwork from May 31st -June 28th, during normal hours.

• Artwork is due no later than June 28th, 2025, by 3:00 p.m.

• Artwork will be on display from July 11 to July 26, 2025.

• There will be only ONE entry per person.

• Artwork must have been completed in the last year.

• Transportation of the work will be the responsibility of the artist/guardian.

• EAC will not be held liable for damage or theft of artwork.

All paper artwork entries MUST be in a FRAME (it doesn’t have to be a fancy/expensive frame), with a hanger on the back.

• No artwork will be for sale in this show.

• The artist reception will be on Friday, July 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

• Awards to be given at 5:15pm

• 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be selected for each age group.

• A panel of judges will select the winners.

• Artwork can be picked up during normal hours from August 5th – August 9th during normal hours.

• Any artwork left after August 31 will be considered donated and/or thrown away.

We cannot store artwork for any longer than 2 weeks after the show.
