This past Saturday was a magical day at EAC’s Holiday Art Gifts Open House!

Each year, Sarah Barrett transforms the Trusler Gallery into a festive wonderland featuring stunning creations by local and regional artists.

Our members got an exclusive first look at Art Gifts while enjoying a delicious breakfast, courtesy of our amazing staff and board of directors. Holiday tunes from Eric Martin and Matt Cowan set the perfect mood, and Santa stopped by to spread cheer with the kiddos!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to shop, explore, and celebrate! Artwork makes a truly special gift, filled with the heart and soul of its maker.

People’s Choice – Voting

Join us for the Veterans Exhibition! People’s Choice voting opens on Friday, November 1st, from 10:00 am to 5:15 pm. Come explore the creative works of our veteran artists on opening day and cast your vote!

The awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 pm, celebrating 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, along with the People’s Choice award. Special thanks to ESB Financial for sponsoring this year’s Veterans Exhibition.

Veterans Exhibition

Join us in celebrating the service and creativity of our veterans as we honor their dedication both in and out of uniform. This exhibition is a powerful reminder of the enduring spirit of our veterans, capturing their resilience, creativity, and unique perspectives through the transformative power of art.

This is an annual exhibition showing the artistic work of all veterans and those currently serving in all branches. It is a juried show with placement for 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, and People’s Choice. Voting for People’s Choice will begin at 10:00 am on November 1^st, ending at 5:15 pm during the artist reception.

ESB Financial has generously donated $100 for the Best of Show Award and $100 for the People’s Choice Award. Additionally, ESB Financial will provide $50 to 2^nd and 3^rd place winners.

Join us for a relaxing and creative outdoor art experience! We’ll meet at the Emporia Arts Center (815 Commercial), then head to Wooster Lake on the beautiful Emporia State University campus.

During this workshop, you’ll learn techniques for capturing the beauty of the sky, trees, water, and grass using pastels. By the end, you’ll leave with your very own masterpiece!

David Mai – Echoes of the Plains

Echoes of the Plains consists of mixed media sculptures that serve as visual memoirs, capturing abstract images of farmland and agricultural practices. Rooted from David’s autobiographical memories from his upbringing in rural Kansas, his sculptures reflect his experiences and environment.

David has been an advocate for art education – serving as a Kansas Artist-in-Education and teaching art in Emporia schools. In retirement, he continues to share his passion for ceramics through teaching classes at the Emporia Art Center and promoting art in the community.

Featured Artists: Watch incredible chalk art by Heather Sulzen, Nancy Ponitus, and Hailey Quick, plus community members chalking throughout the day.
